PME Projects Retail Case Study
Data Cabling Installation for EPOS Systems
For the EPOS giant, Torex Retail, PME Projects has been carrying out rollouts of data cabling infrastructures to numerous retail outlets since 2003, including maintenance callouts of some 400 stores per year.
Contracted in by Torex Retail, the pan-European leader in retail IT solutions, we have designed the infrastructure to meet exact specifications of individual retail outlets to be compatible with their latest till technology and Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) systems.
Working in conjunction with the customer's management refurbishment team, we have worked on about 90 stores every year, completing jobs to tight deadlines to minimise the impact on high street stores and customers.
For this kind of retail work we carry out what we call a two-stage fixing job:
- Install all the cables for the shop including lighting, communications and till systems allowing the refurbishment team to then come in to fit all the retail displays and shop infrastructure
- Return to complete all the rewiring and connecting work to ensure all electrical systems are up and running
As part of our EPOS cabling service, we complete a full system test, including testing the cabling and electrical systems and signing off for the necessary health and safety documentation.
We then complete the hand over to the customer who can then proceed to establish all their billing systems and other retail applications.
